  • Afghanistan registered their first World cup victory by beating Scotland by one wicket in the last over of the match in Dunedin.

    Chasing a total of 211, Afghanistan were staring at a near-certain loss at 97-7. But they fought back, with Samiullah Shenwari scoring a valiant 96.

    When he fell, Afghanistan were still 19 runs short of the target. Shapoor Zadran, the last man, eventually sent the ball to the boundary in the third ball of the 50th over to secure a thrilling victory for his team.
