Cowboys' Tony Romo to be placed on injured reserve
December 28 , 2013
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won't be playing for the rest of the season since he underwent back surgery on Friday.
Reports suggest that Romo will be placed on injured reserve and Kyle Orton will begin the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
"We spent the week exhausting all options regarding Tony's situation, treatment, rehab all the different things," coach Jason Garrett said. "We consulted a lot of different people on this. We just felt like, as we discussed it, as yesterday wore on, that this was the best decision for him and our organization moving forward. We felt like it was better to have this done sooner rather than later."
Orton, who hasn't played a game since 2011 and teaches mathematics at a high school, will be under the spotlight for this weekend's finale.
