Cornell Lacrosse team suspended
September 21 , 2013
The Cornell men's lacrosse team has been temporarily suspended by the university over "coerced consumption of alcohol by underage freshmen".
According to the school, "all fall competitions have been canceled", but the team will be allowed to continue practicing.
A university VP said "under President David Skorton, Cornell University has been a strong voice against hazing and the dangerous rituals that some think are merely rites of passage." The officials said they plan on educating the players on how dangerous hazing is.
The team was scheduled to play against the Iroquois National Team this month and was also due to play in a tournament next month.
