Clarke Carlisle's fight for his life after receiving major wounds in lorry accident

  • Clarke Carlisle is in a critical condition after being hit by a lorry, as per media reports. The 35-year-old ex Burnley defender was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. The accident took place near the village of Bishopthorpe, North Yorkshire.

    Clarke was the former chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association. The PFA has expressed its support to Clarke and his family and has called upon the player to remain strong and keep on fighting. Clarke, who retired in 2013, has made more than 500 appearances in his career, which spans over 16 years.
