Brazil to allow sale of beer during 2014 World Cup
June 7 , 2012
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has signed into law a bill that will allow the sale of beer during the 2014 World Cup matches.
This comes after the soccer world governing body, FIFA, had demanded a change in legislation banning alcohol at matches.
The new bill, which sets a number of rules for the World Cup, does not mention restrictions on the sale of alcohol.
Beer sales have been illegal at matches in Brazil since 2003 as part of measures to curb violence between rival fans and hooliganism.
