Bradley Wiggins wins Tour de France

  • Bradley Wiggins has become the first British rider to win the Tour de France championship.

Wiggins held the coveted yellow jersey as the Tour's overall leader since Stage 7 and on Sunday rode into Paris with his Sky racing teammates.

He completed 120 kilometers from Rambouillet to the historic Champs Elysees, just nine seconds behind teammate Mark Cavendish, who won the final stage in the French capital for a fourth time.

Cavendish finished in a time of 3 hours, 8 minutes and 7 seconds for his third stage win of the 2012 Tour and the 23rd of his career.

Wiggins completed the three-week Tour 3 minutes and 21 seconds ahead of teammate and fellow Brit Christopher Froome.
