Boxer Floyd Mayweather knocks Tiger Woods off top of Forbes list

  • Floyd Mayweather has overtaken Tiger Woods at the top of the Forbes list of the 100 highest-paid sports personalities.

The boxer, currently serving a three-month jail sentence for domestic assault, made $85 million over the past year.

Woods dropped to third place having made $59.4 million. Boxer Manny Pacquiao came in second with earnings of $62million.

Woods had topped the Forbes list since 2001 but has seen a drop in his earnings of $16 million from the previous year on the back of fewer endorsements after being embroiled in a sex scandal.

Only two women made it on to the list, Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova was 26th with $27.9 million and China's 2011 French Open champion Li Na came in at 81st place with $18.4 million.
