Boston Red Sox sign Japan's Koji Uehara

The Boston Red Sox announced on Tuesday the signing of right-hander Koji Uehara to a contract for the 2013 season.
The 37-year-old native of Japan did not record a decision in 37 games last season for the Texas Rangers. He posted a 1.75 earned run average (ERA) while recording 43 strikeouts compared to three walks.
Uehara made his major league debut as a starter with the Baltimore Orioles in 2009 and joined Texas in 2011.
Playing a total of 157 games with the Orioles and Rangers, Uehara is 5-9 with 14 saves and a 2.89 ERA.
