Blunder sets US flag on fire
April 11 , 2014
The Atlanta Braves had quite an inauspicious beginning to the season. A fireworks blunder at their home opener set the American flag on fire in front of about 50k people.
It was for the first time - and probably the last, that the team attempted to set off fireworks from the Vision screen and having one head straight for the flag. The fire was out within seconds since the material of the flag was flame-retardant but the presence of several holes led to its replacement the next day.
Moreover, the Braves lost to the Mets Tuesday night.
