Back injury forces Federer out of ATP World Tour final

  • In a disappointing end to the ATP World Tour, Roger Federer withdrew from the final against World number one Novak Djokovic, citing a back injury, media reports say.

Apologizing to the O2 Arena crowd, Federer said he was not “match-fit.” He said he had tried his best to be fit for the finals, but he “cannot compete at this level with Novak” with the back trouble.

On Saturday in an exciting semi-final clash, the Swiss player had beaten Stan Wawrinka 4-6 7-5 7-6 (8-6).

This is Djokovic's fourth win at the event.
