Australian Open 2017, Melbourne: Murray makes it to Second Round

  • Britain's Andy Murray has reached the second round with a 7-5 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 win in the Australian Open after facing tough competition from world number 95 Illya Marchenko. Murray will be facing Russia's Andrey Rublev next. The event is being held in Melbourne.

With three double faults and a forehead error, he lost the first game. However, he took control and served for the set at 5-3.

Murray looked frustrated in the second set, while his opponent was quite confident. The Wimbledon champion fought hard to force a tie-break. Finally Murray's grueling effort affected Marchenko in the final set and Murray won it sans any complication.
