Atlético Madrid Slow Down Real Madrid's Big Leap to La Liga Title Win

  • Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann quashed Real Madrid’s hopes of taking a big leap to winning their first La Liga title in 5 years as he suddenly appeared in the penalty area with five minutes to go and scored the equalizer. At the end of the match –played at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid still tops the chart with 72 points by playing 30 matches, followed by Barcelona with 69 points by playing 31 matches. Real Madrid’s Pepe scored the opener in the second half by heading the ball into the far post with a well lobbed free-kick from Toni Kroos. However, the rhythm got lost for real with the rib injury of Pepe followed by the substitution of Kroos. It was in the 85th minute of the game that Griezmann of Atlético Madrid slid home through-ball of Angel Correa.
