With both Argentina and Holland unable to score after two hours of play in the second World Cup semifinal, a penalty shootout decided who would meet Germany in the final. And Argentina triumphed, winning the match 4-3.
Lionel Messi, Ezequiel Garay, Sergio Agüero, and Maxi Rodríguez scored for Argentina, while goalkeeper Sergio Romero saved two goals to emerge as one of the heroes of the match.
The cautious, disciplined defending by both teams ensured that the match would go to penalties.
