Anti-doping lab loses license
August 28 , 2013
Rio de Janeiro's anti-doping license has been revoked by the World Anti-Doping industry. The license was supposed to handle samples for the World Cup but just 10 months prior to the tournament, the WADA revoked the license due to its "repeated failures".
Managers at the lab can file an appeal before the revocation takes effect. This is not the first time that Brazil's WADA-accredited center has been embarrassed. It also happened when the lab was stopped from performing isotope ratio mass spectrometry tests after wrongly accusing a volleyball player of doping.
