Anderson named England's cricketer of the year

  • England fast bowler James Anderson has been named as England’s cricketer of the year for 2011-12, beating all-rounder Stuart Broad and batsman Alastair Cook.

Anderson currently sits at number three in the International Cricket Council’s world rankings.

England are currently the world’s number one team. They narrowly avoided losing their ranking by drawing 1-1 in a series against Sri Lanka following a 3-0 drubbing by Pakistan.

Next Thursday marks the start of a three-test series against the West Indies followed by a test series against South Africa in July.
