All 15 American men out of the U.S. Open
September 2 , 2013
Probably the most terrible season in US men's tennis history came to a discomfirting end when Tim Smyczek got defeated by Marcel Granollers of Spain. As a result, no American men were triumphant to reach the fourth round for the first time at the U.S. Open since it started in 1881. Hopes were resting on the shoulders of Smyczek, as earlier this year; no American men were able to go beyond the second round of Wimbledon for the first time in 101 years.
