Adam Jones to move past the banana incident

  • The fan who was responsible was throwing a banana near Adam Jones claimed responsibility and apologized for the incident. He said he wishes it had never happened and that he is embarrassed by the outcome.

The fan, Poulides said being racist was never his intent but he was only disgusted with the performance of the last-place Giants instead of being mad at Jones. Poulides is African American himself.

Jones said its unfortunate for such incidents to happen but they cannot stop him. "We have games to win. It's mid-August. I've got a bigger concern in my head than someone's ignorance or act of whatever," he said.

The club had only found out about the incident after Jones tweeted about it.

The Giants offered an apology in their statement. "The inappropriate actions of this individual in no way reflect the values of our organization and our fans."
