Wentworth Miller has attempted suicide multiple times

  • "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller said he tried to commit suicide more than once when he was growing up because it was overwhelming for him to come to terms with his sexual orientation.

He said the first time he attempted to take his life was when he was 15 years old. He had swallowed a bottle of pills while his family was away. "I don't remember what happened over the next couple of days, but I'm pretty sure Monday morning I was on the bus back to school pretending everything was fine," Miller said.

The actor also mentioned that he ignored multiple opportunities of coming out in public since he didn't want to harm his career. "I was out privately to family and friends," he said. "Publicly I was not."

Miller revealed in August that he was gay when he rejected the invitation to the film festival in Russia. "As a gay man, I must decline," he had written to the organizers of the international event.
