Vietnam War photographer Horst Faas dies at 79

  • War photographer Horst Faas, known for his dramatic pictures of the Vietnam War, has died at the age of 79.

    The German-born photojournalist oversaw the Associated Press news agency’s operations in Saigon for a decade starting in 1962.

    Faas won two Pulitzer Prizes during his career that spanned nearly half a century.

    The first was in 1965 for his coverage of the Vietnam War. He won his second Pulitzer in 1972 for photographs of torture and executions in Bangladesh.

    Faas retired in 2004.
