US actress Donna Douglas dies

  • Donna Douglas, the US actress popular for her role of Elly May Clampett in the sixties sitcom 'The Beverly Hillbillies', has died. She was 82.

    Douglas, who was reportedly suffering from pancreatic cancer, died in the Louisiana capital Baton Rouge.

    She had recently described her tomboyish role in the popular sitcom as a slice “out of my own life".

    Among her other roles, she appeared in 'The Twilight Zone', a supernatural drama. She also starred in 'Frankie and Johnny' in 1966 opposite the legendary Elvis Presley.
