US actor James Best, star of 'Dukes of Hazzard', dies at 88

  • US actor James Best, who played the role of the sheriff Rosco Coltrane on the television show ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, has died. He was 88.

    He died following complications arising from pneumonia, reports said.

    Though Best had a long career in films, television and theater, he is most fondly remembered for the ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, which started airing on American television in 1979.

    In a tribute, Ben Jones, a co-actor from Dukes, described Best as the “most constantly creative person” he had ever known.
