June 7 , 2012
The world premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is to take place in New Zealand on November 28.
The screening at Wellington's Embassy Theatre will be held two weeks before the film's release on December 14.
Based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit is set 60 years before the Lord Of The Rings film trilogy.
The film follows Bilbo Baggins as he tries to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from Smaug the dragon.
The cast includes British actor Martin Freeman, who plays the lead role of Baggins, alongside Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett and Sir Ian McKellen, who all starred in Jackson's Oscar-winning trilogy.
The film is split into two parts. The second instalment, The Hobbit: There And Back Again, is due to be released in December next year.
