Sting, Tom Hanks honored in White House

UK singer and former Police star Sting and American actor Tom Hanks were among the recipients of the Kennedy Center honors feted in the White House.
Al Green, the soul singer; Lily Tomlin, the 9 to 5 star; and dancer Patricia McBride were also honored by US president Obama.
The 63-year-old Sting said it was a rare honor for an Englishman.
Hanks, who has won best actor Oscars for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, said he had found it hard to believe when he came to know that he had been chosen.
