Reality show with Pistorius' girlfriend to air

  • A reality television show featuring the girlfriend of Olympian and Paralympian Oscar Pistorius will still be broadcast as scheduled, despite the model’s tragic death.

Producers of Tropika Island of Treasure said they had decided not to axe the pre-recorded show, which will premiere on South African television later this evening.

"This week's episode will be dedicated to Reeva's memory," a producer said.

The celebrity show was filmed in Jamaica and sees Reeva Steenkamp compete to win the one million rand prize ($113,600).

A special tribute will be aired ahead of the premiere on SABC1 at 6:30 pm local time.

The show, which is now in its fifth series, sees seven celebrities and seven other contestants take part in a series of "adrenaline-fuelled" challenges over a period of 10 weeks, while living at two "7-star" villas.

When asked to describe herself in three words for the show, Steenkamp, 29, said: "Brainy, blonde, bombshell".

The model and law graduate, was shot dead at Pistorius’ Pretoria home on Thursday morning.

The couple had been together since November.

Prosecutors said on Friday they will pursue Pistorius on a "premeditated murder" charge.
