'Real Housewives of New Jersey' stars indicted on fraud and tax charges

  • Two stars of the television show "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" namely Teresa and Joe Giudice were charged on illegally obtaining mortgages and other loans as well as on hiding assets and income during a bankruptcy case. 

    Joe Giudice, the husband was charged with failure to file tax returns between the years of 2004 and 2008. He had allegedly earned nearly $1 million during that time period. 

    The couple lied to the bankruptcy court, to the IRS and to a number of banks, according to U.S. Attorney Fishman. "Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when dealing with courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or mortgages," he said. 

    The husband's legal troubles have also been discussed a number of times in the series and they have four daughters who also appear on the show.
