Rare Charlotte Bronte poem auctioned for $141,500

  • A manuscript of a poem written by British author Charlotte Bronte was sold for $141,500 at an auction in London, England on Wednesday.

    The work, titled I've Been Wandering in the Greenwoods, was expected to fetch up to half that amount.

    Bronte wrote the poem at her home in West Yorkshire, England at the age of 13. It is signed C Bronte and dated 14 December 1829.

    The writing is very small, making the poem difficult to read without a magnifying glass.

    According to auctioneers Bonhams, the manuscript was bought by an unknown buyer from abroad.
