Rare Beatles photos fetch $46,000

  • Photographs of The Beatles' 1965 Shea Stadium concert, taken by an amateur photographer, sold for nearly $46,000 at an auction on Sunday.

Photographer Marc Weinstein used a fake press pass to get next to the stage for the New York show.

The only other photographer there at the time ran out of film during the gig.

Weinstein's 61 black and white images with copyright fetched $45,690, compared with a pre-sale estimate of $20,000-$30,000, according to Omega Auctions.

Shea Stadium was The Beatles' biggest concert and came at the height of Beatlemania.
