Protests mark staging of Klinghoffer opera in New York
October 21 , 2014
The Death of Klinghoffer opera, which was staged at New York’s Lincoln Center on Monday, October 20, was met with protests in what seemed to be an organized campaign against the controversial opera.
This was the first complete production of the opera — which has often been accused of antisemitism — in New York in more than two decades.
The Metropolitan Opera said in a statement that there were many “rumors and inaccuracies” surrounding the opera, but it was “neither antisemitic nor does it glorify terrorism.”
