Pran, well-known Indian cartoonist, dies at 76

  • Pran, one of India’s best-known cartoonists and creator of the popular Chacha Chaudhary comic series, has died from cancer at the age of 76.

Generations of Indian children grew up reading Chacha Chaudhary, the clever old man who would use his native wit to defeat his enemies.

Pran created several other characters who were popular with children. He decided to make comics on local themes in the 1960s when he realized that most Indians read western comics.
