Pop singer Steve Strange dies of heart attack

  • Steve Strange, the lead singer of the band Visage and a pioneer of the New Romantic movement, has died in Egypt at the age of 55 after suffering a heart attack.

The Welsh singer, a major figure of the 1980s, was perhaps best known for his hit ‘Fade To Grey’.

Former members of Visage, Rusty Egan and Midge Ure said they were “devastated” on hearing the news. Other major performers such as Boy George, Simon Le Bon and Billy Idol also expressed their condolences.
