Nominations row: Oscars chief calls for greater diversity

  • Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts, has said she would like to see greater diversity in Oscar nominations following a controversy about the nominees this year.

While all the 20 nominees in the acting categories are white, there are no women in the writing or direction list.

Isaacs, the Academy’s first African-American president, insisted that the organization was “making greater strides” towards more diversity and was committed to it.
