New Will.i.am song played from Mars

  • A song by Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am has become the first song from Earth ever to be broadcast from another planet.

The singer announced on his Twitter feed that his new song Reach for the Stars would be played by NASA's Curiosity rover, which landed on Mars earlier this month.

The song was played at 1pm PST on Tuesday and was streamed live from NASA's website and broadcast on NASA TV.

The song is about "will.i.am’s passion for science, technology and space exploration", said NASA.

It was played at a special event held by NASA in California.
