Muslim teen girl to be a new superhero
November 7 , 2013
A new Marvel superhero expected to come in February is unique for the superhero is actually a heroine and a Muslim-American.
Kamala Khan is the main character in the comic. She lives in New Jersey and finds out she has the unique ability to change shapes.
Marvel editor Sana Amanat said she expects some negativity against Ms. Marvel. "Not only from people who are anti-Muslim, but people who are Muslim and might want the character portrayed in a particular light," she said.
The storyline will focus on her childhood in New Jersey and portray her family to be conservative. It sounds exciting and we agree with writer Rob Bricken, who said Ms. Marvel will have to survive "not only the haters, but the sales necessary to survive."
