Margaret Pellegrini dies at 89

  • One of the original Munchkins in from the movie "The Wizard of Oz" has died at 89. 

    Margaret Pellegrini suffered a stroke at her home in Glendale and died at a hospital in Phoenix on Wednesday. Only two out out of the original 124 Munchkins are alive after her death. 

    Pellegrini had worn a flowerpot on her head for the movie when she was 16 and she was also a guest speaker for many years at grade schools in the metropolitan area of Phoenix. Pellegrini told children that the movie was a moral lesson. 

    She said "there are two roads in life that you can take- the wrong road and the right road. And remember, there is no place like home."

    The two surviving Munchkins are Jerry Maren and Ruth Duccini.
