Joss Stone 'unaware of murder plot'

  • British singer Joss Stone only became aware of an alleged plot to murder her after police visited her after two suspects were arrested, she told a court on Tuesday.

Junior Bradshaw, 32, and Kevin Liverpool, 35, were arrested a few miles from the soul singer’s home in Devon, England in June 2011.

Stone told Exeter Crown Court: "Apart from someone (police) coming around to say someone is trying to kill me, it was a really nice day."

She went on to say that the news came as a surprise, adding that she and her security company had received no threats.

The men deny charges of conspiracy to murder, cause grievous bodily harm and rob.

The pair were arrested with weapons in their car, including a samurai sword, a lock knife and a hammer.

Notes suggesting they intended to decapitate Stone before dumping her body in a river were also found, the court was told.

The jury also heard that the men had studied a show she appeared in for MTV's Cribs series, in which stars give a tour of their homes.

The trial is expected to last for around three weeks.
