John Oliver to take over The Daily Show

  • Jon Stewart's Daily Show colleague John Oliver is set to front the television satire program for two months while its host takes time off to make his first film.

The British comedian has been a regular on the hit show since 2006.

He is set to host the program from June 10.

Speaking on his new role, Oliver said: "Don't worry, it's still going to be everything that you love about The Daily Show, just without the thing that you love the most about it."

Stewart is directing his first feature film, Rosewater, which tells the story about a journalist imprisoned in Iran.
