John Lennon's guitar sold for $408,000

A guitar played by John Lennon and George Harrison of the Beatles fetched $408,000 at an auction on Sunday.
An unidentified US buyer in New York bought the custom-made instrument.
The guitar was made in 1966 by the VOX company,
Harrison used the guitar to play I Am The Walrus in a scene from Magical Mystery Tour in 1967, while Lennon used it in a video for Hello, Goodbye.
Lennon gave the guitar as a present to Alexis "Magic Alex" Mardas, a friend of The Beatles.
Mardas sold the instrument in 2004.
According to Julien's Auctions, the guitar surpassed its estimated value of $200,000-$300,000.
