JK Rowling law firm pays damages over pseudonym leak
August 1 , 2013
The law firm who's partner leaked the information about JK Rowling's pseudonym is now paying damages after the matter was taken to court.
Russells Solicitors, the law firm will pay the writer's legal costs and make a donation to the Soldiers' Charity, formerly known as the Army Benevolent Fund. Rowling said this donation is her way of thanking the army people who helped her with the research.
Though Rowling didn't appear in the court herself, her lawyer informed the judge about the dismay and distress that she has been left with by this betrayal of trust.
BBC News noted that Rowling's new book, "The Cuckoo's Calling" became a No. 1 seller on Amazon within only hours of the pseudonym leak.
