Gunther Schuller, Pulitzer-winning composer and musician, dies aged 89

Gunther Schuller, a Pulitzer-winning American composer, has died aged 89.
Schuller, who was also an educator, horn player and one of the main proponents of the Third Stream movement that sought to blend jazz with classical music, was suffering from multiple medical conditions.
Born in New York, Schuller came from a family of musicians. He wrote over 200 compositions across genres. Of Reminiscences and Reflections, an orchestral work, won him the prestigious Pulitzer prize in 1994.
