Green Day frontman being treated for substance abuse
September 24 , 2012
The lead singer of American rock band Green Day has revealed he is seeking treatment for substance abuse.
A statement on the band's website announced that Billie Joe Armstrong was receiving treatment just hours after he stormed off stage at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas, complaining that the band’s time was being cut short.
Armstrong smashed his guitar before leaving the stage.
Green Day has since apologized ‘‘to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival’’ and said its set was not cut short by Clear Channel, the organizers of the two-day festival.
The Grammy award-winning band is also due to cancel some of its upcoming promotional appearances.
