ET and Alien special effects artist Carlo Rambaldi dies at age 86

Italian special effects artist Carlo Rambaldi, renowned for creating ET the Extra Terrestrial, has died at the age of 86 after a long illness.
Rambaldi died at a hospital in Lamezia Terme city in Italy's Calabria region.
He worked with several Italian directors including Pier Paolo Pasolini and Dario Argento but he created a name for himself in Hollywood.
As well as Steven Spielberg's ET, he also worked on Ridley Scott's Alien and John Guillermin's King Kong.
He won an Oscar for all three.
Rambaldi was born in Vigarano Mainarda in northeast Italy and studied at Bologna's Fine Arts academy.
