Emmy Award-winning actress Rosemary Murphy dies

  • Emmy Award-winning actress Rosemary Murphy has died at the age of 89.

    She was reportedly being treated for cancer.

    One of her popular roles was that of Miss Maudie Atkinson in the 1962 movie To Kill a Mockingbird.  

    She won an Emmy for her 1976 portrayal of President Franklin Roosevelt’s mother Sara Roosevelt in the ABC television film Eleanor and Franklin.

    Later she also played the roles of the mother of President George Washington in 1984 and the mother of President John F. Kennedy in 1991.
