Elle magazine to face cover controversy
January 9 , 2014
Elle magazine is facing a fresh new controversy related to its cover.
Mindy Kaling was one of the four stars for the "Women in TV issue" and the other three were white and got full covers. However, Kaling's cover was in black and white and focused only on her face whereas Amy Poehler, Allison Williams and Zooey Deschanel showed more of their bodies.
Kaling defended the magazine and said the cover made her feel "glamorous and cool." She also used the controversy to boost her TV show and said she and Chris Messina are "naked on a brand new #themindyproject tonight, ya pervs!"
Elle issued a statement and said Mindy's pose is "striking and sophisticated" and they are "thrilled to celebrate her" in the issue.
