Dissident Iranian director's 'Taxi' wins top prize at Berlin
February 15 , 2015
Dissident Iranian director Jafar Panahi's film ‘Taxi’ has won the Golden Bear at the 65th Berlin Film Festival.
Panahi was banned from filmmaking in 2010; this is his third movie since then.
The director was unable to attend the ceremony to receive the top prize at the prestigious festival, so his niece Hana Saeidi, who appears in ‘Taxi’, accepted the award on his behalf.
The head of the jury Darren Aronofsky described the film as a “love letter to cinema”.
