Disney loses $160m on The Lone Ranger

  • According to Disney's recent announcement, the company is expected to lose between $160 million and $190 million because of the flop movie "The Lone Ranger". The film has supposedly only earned $29 million in Canada and the United States in its first weekend.

CEO of the company said tent-pole films were a risk but still a good strategy. However, those who were a part of the movie such as Johnny Depp have blamed the critics for the failure of the film on the box office. Depp said "I think the reviews were written seven to eight months before we released the film." Moreover, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has blamed the critics for reviewing the budget instead of the film.

The budget for the movie was $225 million.
