Chili Peppers mimicked at Super Bowl
February 6 , 2014
The Red Hot Chili Peppers weren't actually playing their instruments while performing alongside Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl watched by 115M people.
Bassist Flea explained that the band is against miming but they were told by the NFL to sing live but pre-record the instruments.
"I understand the NFL's stance on this, given they only have a few minutes to set up the stage, there a zillion things that could go wrong and ruin the sound for the folks watching in the stadium and the TV viewers," he writes in an open letter. He mentioned that the band looked at it as a "once in a lifetime crazy thing to do."
