Birdman, the opening film at Venice film festival

Birdman, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and starring Michael Keaton, will be the opening film at the 2014 Venice Film Festival, which runs from 27 August to 6 September in the Italian city.
Other movies in the line-up, include Andrew Niccol's Good Kill, Manglehorn, and Ramin Bahrani's 99 Homes.
A total of 55 films are part of the official selection of the prestigious festival. Others will be shown outside of competition.
The Golden Era by Ann Hui, a filmmaker from Hong Kong, will close the festival.
