Best-selling writer Jackie Collins dies, aged 77

  • Jackie Collins, who wrote dozens of best-selling novels often known for their sexually explicit content, has died at the age of 77 in Los Angeles, US.

She was suffering from breast cancer.

In a statement, her family described the British-born author as a “true inspiration, a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force”.

Her most successful works included Hollywood Wives, The Stud, and Lucky.

She did small parts in B-grade films in Britain, and switched to a writing career only after her second husband, Oscar Lerman, encouraged her to do so.
