Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch passes away aged 47

Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch has passed away at the age of 47.
The musician, actor and Tibet activist was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2009.
He joined the Beastie Boys with rappers Mike D and Ad Roc in 1981 and performed under the alias MCA. The group started out as a punk bank in 1979 but turned to hip-hop in 1984.
The Beastie Boys have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide with hits such as (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party) and No Sleep Till Brooklyn.
He is survived by his wife, Dechen Wangdu, their daughter, Tenzin Losel and as his parents Noel and Frances Yauch.
