Author Tom Clancy dead at 66

  • The New York Times has reported the death of spy thriller writer Tom Clancy.

His publisher, the Penguin Group mentioned that Clancy died in Baltimore on Tuesday but the written statement didn't specify the cause of death.

Clancy wrote the "The Hunt for Red October," which drove him towards fame in 1984. He also become a favorite storyteller of the military and the drama was brought to the big screen in 1990.

It's interesting to note that the author's Dead or Alive involved his own version of the capture of Osama bin Laden. Osama was caught under similar circumstances months after his book was published.
